Carnie:  A weight loss surgery failure!

pre-traitor carnie at million pound march
Wasn't she a cutie?
A photo uncovered from google shows Carnie Wilson at the "Million Pound March".  This was a very public protest to the blatant fat-prejudice that obviously exists deep within our society.  Back then, Carnie was probably flattered to have an opportunity as a well-known celbrity to help advance the cause of fat acceptance.  Fat was slowly inching it's way onto the vast list of visual differences between us that are covered by today's philosophy of political correctness.
Oh no, she didn't!
Carnie decides to give into temptation and under-go the dangerous and obvously not "fool-proof" method of behavior modification through body modification.  As brutal, barbaric, and cruel as it may sound, doctors believe that by artificially shrinking the stomach, a regular individual can over-come the eating habits common in obese "patients".  Like an electric collar may control behavior in our k-9 friends, shrinking the stomach makes it "impossible" to gain weight easily.  They didn't know Carnie!
watch the amazing transformation! fat activist to weight loss surgery promoter!
here's Carnie "before", and, um... "before"!
Carnie "before" and, um, "before"!
Get it while it's hot!
Carnie initially has success with the proceedure.  She goes city to city with a truck-load of medical equipment and a bunch of doctors local to each city and gives an emotional and heart-felt speech about her experience.  Basically fat=bad, skinny=good.  She takes a moment within the sales pitch to poke fun at her own promotion of "acceptance".  She even poses nude for playboy!  Why oh why couldn't she have taken just a few nudes at her largest!  Oh the humanity!
Don't look so surprised Carnie!
While I'm sure she may have been threatened by the seemingly militant weight loss surgery industry, Carnie re-appears in the public eye on "Celebrity Fit Club" on VH1...  When I watched her selling the surgery to countless future weight loss surgery victims, I could not imagine that such a suiting kharma pay-back would occur.  Before finding out that Carnie gained weight back, I often remarked about how kharma would work itself out in her case.  Carnie is convinced by doctors and her own temporary success that she has "helped" countless people who have had the proceedure and lost weight.  The conflict would exist in the number of people who didn't lose weight, or worse, didn't even survive the operation.  I have personal knowlege of one woman who told family and friends she was having the "Carnie surgery" before she went into surgery and never came back out.  Candy still has clothing that was handed down to her after the woman's death, so the "secret mortality" of this surgery is a very real thing to me.  While it may help thousands, I can't help thinking that even one death is too many.  If Carnie was the weight loss surgery poster child, will people still line up to risk their lives when they see that success is not guaranteed?!?  Is there a conspiracy to "shrink'em or kill'em"?  To be continued!
don't look so surprised!

If you must see it, here is the shot that Playboy put out there in the "free" section, to entice anyone who wants to see just a taste of Carnie.
